Desktop, so changes. Programs that are corrected, spoiled receive new features and functions, but the core of the system linux ... really changing?
Windows of people accustomed to a system that may be hated, but if the new version we do not like, we remain at the old, used, and it is good.
The kind of linux system is the same. Truth?

Versions with long support to the current version far different from being on time.
And it is not worth looking at web browsers, because they WILL updated because ... each update brings improved security. So, by itself, it means that the new version will appear in the version of the LTS. But for other elements of the system will be old. Does this bother anyone? No. Because everything works.

Constantly amazes me Minta community because it proved that you do not need to download and install from scratch Linux Mint to have cinnamon. I do not need much to do with Linux Mint Ubuntu to date, only desktop cinammon.
Fedora is obviously a specific community that has surprised users with Ubuntu or other distributions: Why not use their fantastic distribution?

Linux Mint 18.1 Serena

Linux Mint has always evoked mixed feelings in me. Because supposedly based on Ubuntu, which itself is based in part on Debian. It is a pity that Debian on any of the distribution is not based, but let's leave it.
But ... If you look at Linux Mint as a person very familiar with Linux, it turns out to be a worthy system. Really. Overlays on the components of the system are really simple and does not involve anyone is thinking about what and how it works. Because after we ch ... "Why?" Linux and the world - what's new in 2017?
I wonder ... What is new linux system in 2017?
Unity8? Rather, you can forget.
KDE as something revolutionary? Rather, it falls off.
KDE as competition for Unity8 phones? Jaaasne.
The new, revolutionary gnome? Dreams.
I wonder.
I come to the conclusion that as the year 2016 was full of insignificant things, what will surprise in 2017?
Not everyone thinks the same.
Wayland, vulkan, mesa, wine, games on Steam, a new desktop program?
I think so and I think, and nothing comes to mind.
I feel that 2017 will be similar to 2016. Unfortunately, since linux needs the proverbial kick in the ass. Not in order to scold him, but moved forward.
